pop...pop...pop

Tightening up on my budget I love finding awesome ways to save on Pinterest, from friends or family.  A box of microwaveable butter popcorn can run $3.78 on up.  If you purchase paper lunch bags, popcorn and/or popcorn oil you have the ingredients to make your own microwaveable popcorn.  The first purchase is more than a box and requires effort beyond unwrapping but is beyond belief beneficial.  One bottle has gotten us 15 bags so far; we are not done with the bottle yet.  There are not as many preservatives as in the prepackaged bags.  Plus, if you need a little more you do not have to pop a complete bag.

the smelly & the bacony

The laundry detergent I made is lacking in smell. To amp it up in the scent department I've made a homemade fabric softener. I normally do not use fabric softener.  I think my next laundry detergent batch I will add some crushed, dried lavender or maybe vanilla to add some scent to it.

For the fabric softener I used sauve cherry blossom and it smells good.  If you decide to make fabric softener  you need to shake it up before each use. The vinegar causes separation as it sits.

BACON CUPS for salad!  I accept that challenge!!!  I know bacon is not healthy but I'll run a few extra minutes to eat this.

I know this is blasphemy but it was too bacony for my salad tastes.  Maybe next time a smaller cup would be preferable.

Winners and a big failure

I have no pictures of these but last week I made crack bread and slutty brownies to share at work.  They both turned out wonderfully.  I do suggest adding more butter and ranch to the crack bread.  I personally think extra would be a good addition.  The slutty brownies are even better if you use Betty Crocker packages.  You not only get the brownies but you also get boxtops for education to give to your kids school.  No kids!  Hey, you get slutty brownies then.  And oh are they easy!!!

On to my FAILure this week. I attempted beet chips. I enjoy beets but dislike all the nasty stuff in chips. I prepared my oven and beets. This is the result.
They were tough and chewy.  I took a pic of a few then tossed them all to the animals.

I have enjoyed the outcome of making the Duggar laundry detergent recipe!  It works just as well as the commercial brands.  The first load of laundry I did with it was the test.  My youngest had spent the weekend with her Papa.  He forgot to tell me she had a blowout in some pants that he had not washed.   :0    Those pants came out the wash without a stain.  Thank goodness.

The biggest advantage of this detergent is the cost.  I spent less than, including new container, twenty dollars on it.  It's estimated (per other sites) .01-.05 a load.  I think that is pretty close to accurate.

A short explanation

For those that have not experienced it just visit Pinterest.  It is your saved favorites posted to boards.  You can look through what other people have posted and pin their finds to your boards.  I'm on Pinterest almost every day.  To me it is better than Facebook or Twitter.  At least I learn more from the site.  To date I have created 23 boards.  I currently have 502 pins.  That will change soon :)

The point of this blog is to put my Pinning to use.  Well, I already do!  Better stated:  to chronicle my attempts, successes & fun through my finds on Pinterest.  Have fun reading and laughing at me.....or maybe with me.
